Up for sale from my personal collection is a truly magnificent, rare piece of early industrial and heavy diesel motoring history. This is an original, mid-20th-century manual hand-operated fuel priming pump manufactured directly by the legendary Cummins Engine Company. Featuring a beautifully knurled solid brass plunger handle, this unit was a staple on dashboards and bulkheads servicing early high-compression Cummins diesel setups, such as the famous Model H series, where a manual prime was essential to clear air locks and get the system flowing smoothly on cold starts. The pump is in fantastic original survival condition and presents beautifully, offering an “as-new” structural condition wrapped in a gorgeous, honest historical storage patina. The round brass plunger knob features exceptionally crisp, sharp factory lettering stamped right into the metal face, reading “PRIMING PUMP” along the outer curves with the iconic “CUMMINS” name proudly cutting straight through the center block. To give your buyers a clear visual understanding of the structural depth, I have captured a high-angle perspective looking directly down the extended solid brass shaft as it enters the heavy aluminum mounting sleeve, all resting safely over an authentic piece of coarse-weave vintage industrial sacking cloth from the exact same classic working era. Unlike most garage finds that are gummed up or missing parts. This unit has been fully bench-tested and is in 100% working order. The main plunger shaft extends fully and compresses with excellent mechanical stroke resistance on its internal spring guide path, pulling a fantastic vacuum. When you slide the piston out, the internal rubber seals look absolutely beautiful, remaining completely soft, supple, and intact without any dry-rotting or tearing. The assembly is incredibly complete and ready to install. It features its original straight factory guiding pin on the shaft, the sturdy hex-shaped aluminum dashboard mounting sleeve designed to secure the assembly completely flush against a panel fascia, both original right-angle brass line fittings, and its unstripped brass backing nuts. For mounting and space clearance, when the plunger handle is fully compressed at rest, the total footprint depth measures exactly 15.5 centimeters (extending out to 20.5 centimeters at full stroke). The circular brass knob itself is exactly 3.8 centimeters in diameter.
